Saw God's glory this morning

I try to go to the YMCA to work out every weekday.  The past three weeks I have not been very diligent.  This week has been different.  The skys were gray with a storm front coming in.  In some ways it matched the way I have been feeling.

While working out I noticed the sky and clouds change color from gray to a  blazing red, orange, and yellow.  I know all the science about why this happens and I also know that God is at work in our natural world.  This knowledge and certainity inspired me to write:

God Almighty

You light the sky and clouds with the glory of Your creation

The fire in the sky I see warms my soul and heart

Today I ask You to light my heart and soul on fire

So that I can be on fire for You and Your Kingdom purposes.

May the glow, warmth, and light of Your presence shine thru my life

So those around me will be drawn to

You, Your life for them, Your glory, and Your Kingdom

Academy of Rock playing at Uncle Bo's on August 8, 2010

The Academy of Rock is contempory youth music program in Lincoln Nebraska.  Well their parents brought them down to Uncle Bo's to play at the Topeka Blues Society's Youth Showcase.  The band we saw was made up of a rotating group of young people between the ages of 12 to 15 years old.

Very good drummer and a good vocalist as well.

Not only was this young man a very good base player but he had an amazing voice.

This young man lives in Topeka and goes to school at Topeka High School.  He was very good.

Hern Brothers playing at Uncle Bo's on August 8, 2010

Nick Hern and his brother (sorry but I forgot his name) are going to be the Topeka Blues Society's Youth Showcase participants at this years Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge.  The TBS Youth Showcase took place at Uncle Bo's on August 8, 2010.

We have seen Nick and his brother play many times before.  They are both very good with their choosen instruments.  We didn't know that Nick's brother could sing and that he was so good.

Here are a few pictures of them playing and singing together
